Adding Pattern to Your Space

Date posted: January 26, 2016

Now you’ve added texture, color, and shine to your home. The last thing to add is pattern, which will provide more visual interest, something for the eye to focus on, and something to tie your entire style and interior design together. Just like adding color, you may be the type of person that shies away from pattern. Perhaps patterns seem too visually loud to you, but a subtle pattern works just as well as a dominant, strong one. It all comes down to your personal preference.

Here are some of the easiest and quickest ways to add pattern to your space:

Accent Wall

You don’t have to commit to a pattern all over your home. Instead, choose an accent wall and paint a pattern or use wallpaper to create a one-of-a-kind look. Choose a subtle pattern for a classier, more subdued look or opt for a bold, bright pattern to make quite the design statement.

Accent Furniture

Simply add a piece of furniture with pattern, and that’s it! Choosing furniture for your pattern makes it a bit easier to change out than an accent wall. And you can easily move it into another room if you decide it needs the pattern and personality more.

Window Coverings

If you’re looking for a more non-traditional place to add pattern, consider your window coverings. Adding pattern here will make your space feel vibrant, fresh, and modern, no matter your design style.

Throw Pillows

By far the easiest way to add pattern is with decorative pillows. You can change your mind every day and pick a new pattern for your pillows. Or add several patterns to create a whole new look.

Bedding

The variety you have with patterned bedding is through the roof. No matter your style, your favorite color, or even your favorite pattern, you won’t have any trouble finding exactly what you’re looking for.
